It's already well into the new year but here is a quick look back at the wonderful festive season that we finished the year with.
The room was beautifully decorated and, since one our neightbours had a pine tree that was due to be felled anyway, he kindly gave it to us, so we had our own Christmas tree within the Wine Salon.
Andre and Juan devised a new festive five-course menu of beautiful dishes for Christmas week and New Year's Day.
For "La Noche Buena" - Christmas Eve, the key celebration for the Spanish - we had a spectacular 7-course dinner.
Dishes included Cream of Pumpkin, Carrot and Fennel Soup, Marinated Partridge with Green Salad, Suckling Pig with creamed Potatoes, Caramelised Onion and Apple Purée, and Tartar of Jurel with pearls of Seaweek and Quail's Egg Yolk.
We served Veuve Dousset, a beautiful champagne. André had a battle royal with to open the magnum and got a round of applause when at last the 'pop' came!
Music was provided in style by the Wood Jazz Dúo: Alejandro Bereger and Blanca Gutiérrez, who we got in touch with through the Asociación de Jazz de Málaga. They provided a lovely voice, keyboards and double bass combo of seasonal classics such as Bye, Bye, Blackbird, Dream a Little Dream, and Santa Claus is Coming to Town. Their lovely sound gave an extra dimension to a wonderful atmosphere. It was such a pleasure to have music in the wine-salon that we are planning to do it again for future special events.
You can see a tiny snippet to give a hint of the atmosphere we all enjoyed on YouTube:
Our Guests loved it. They were delightfully positive and happy from the start and thanked us beautifully at the end of the night. I'm sure Jens won't mind our showing you the comment he later put on facebook about the event:
