The end of January/start of February were busy for Clara with an exciting trip to Madrid, involving two big fairs, and wine tastings in some wonderful venues. It was a great opportunity to speak with other professionals involved in wine, gastronomy and eno-tourism, as well as to present the Ariyanas wines to interested and knowledgeable audiences.
FITUR is a yearly international tourism trade fair held in Madrid and is a global meeting point for tourism professionals. The scale is huge – this year there were nearly 10,000 exhibiting companies, 140,000 trade participants, 110,000 visitors and 7,500 journalists.
The Asociación de Enoturismo de España (AEE), an organisation promoting Eno-tourism in Spain, took part with its own stand for the very first time.
Bodegas Bentomiz also participated and were involved in video presentations, with the Ariyanas wines and the winery’s Enotourism offer presented by Clara and the Terruño Pizarroso featuring in the masterclass given by Pedro Ballesteros.
Following on the heels of Fitur ’17 was Enofusión.
Bodegas Bentomiz participated both with the Sabor a Málaga stand and with Nomacorc, now the representative in Spain of the Vinolok, our glass stoppers produced by Preciosa.
During this fair Bodegas Bentomiz caught up with many colleagues, old friends and new, such as Laurent Benoit of Château Angélus, Antonio Barbadillo, David Robledo, Dolores Sánchez and Juanma Galán.
Clara gave a well attended vertical tasting of 5 vintages (2008-2005) of the Terruño Pizarroso. It was a great opportunity to show how well these wines age with the Vinolok stoppers.
Private events included a fabulous evening presentation at La Lonja with a delicious menu paired to the Ariyanas wines - a pleasure to be there for Clara as well as the guests.
What a start to the year! We sincerely hope that this exciting beginning, a sign of the vigor of the wine world itself, is also an indication of a very good year to come.
